Hilong Oil Service Nigeria Ltd. Wins Shell Five-Year LTI FREE Award

As the Chinese saying goes, it takes five years to forge a sword. After winning the 2015 Shell Safety of Year Award in 2015, Hilong Oil Service Nigeria Ltd. continued its success in 2016 having won the crown jewel - Shell Africa’s First Consecutive Five-Year LTI FREE[] (Without Lost Time Incidents) Award. At the same time, the company and the HL-19 drilling team were also respectively awarded Shell’s Safe Management Excellence Award and Safe Operation Excellence Award.

For this, at the Q3 CEO Conference organized by Shell SPDC at the end of September 2016, a special celebration was held in Hilong’s honor. At the conference, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria General Manager Issac Iyamu expressed great recognition of Hilong’s operation performance over the past five years, showing profound respect and admiration for the HL-27 team in achieving consecutive safe operation in high-temperature, high-pressure operating environments with constant pressure of up to 10,000 psi in ultra-deep wells, as well as pride for Hilong having broken Shell’s several operation records in Africa.

Shell general managers from the Netherlands and Central West Africa also sent congratulatory messages and videos, expressing a need to increase the depth and breadth of collaboration with Hilong, while strengthening bilateral safe construction and interactions, reaching the situation where you are part of me and I am part of you so that we can strive for greatness in the next five years.

Under the initiative of Hilong Oil Service Nigeria General Manager Zheng Guoqi, Hilong and all other Shell contractors made a commitment: “No matter what the future economic situation may hold, everyone will always place safety management first!”

As the famous Chinese poem goes: “I will mount a long wind some day and break the heavy waves, and set my cloudy sail straight and bridge the deep, deep sea.” “This Shell award marks yet another step forward for Hilong in improving both operations and safety management to the world first-class level of drilling service contractors, and has won the recognition of the world’s mainstream high-end markets. This has laid a solid foundation for Hilong to continue to expand into the African market, centered around Nigeria and Egypt, as well as Shell’s other markets around the world,” said Hilong Group Senior Vice President and Hilong Oil Service General Manager Dai Daliang.
